I live in south central Scottsdale. Scottsdale is in the eastern half of the county which is where the 4 PH Clinics and most of the top healthcare are located. The western half of the county is more affordable and as long as you stay away from south Phoenix there is very little crime.
You could go visit your grandma!
My grandma lives in Scottsdale. No i don't think we even considered Arizona, I'm not sure why. I'll look into that for sure.
