PH causes a lot of lightheadedness, pretty much daily for many of us, so you can use your judgment as to when you need to go to the ER. If it's worsening, or seems different in any way from your baseline, at least a call to your physician is appropriate. A couple of situations that warrant particular concern: if you are having any symptoms that seem more like stroke than fainting, or if you actually pass out-especially if you fall-you need to go to the ER (not intended to be the only situations to go to the ER, just a couple of things to keep in mind.)

Should you go to the emergency room if you've been feeling like you're going to pass out for 5 days?

Yes, persistent feelings of passing out or fainting that last for several days is a serious warning sign that requires immediate medical attention. Dizziness and fainting are recognized symptoms of pulmonary hypertension that can indicate your heart isn't pumping enough oxygen-rich blood to your brain and other organs.

New or worsening dizziness or confusion is specifically listed as a warning sign that you should seek immediate care. When these symptoms persist for multiple days, it's especially important to get evaluated right away rather than waiting for a regular appointment.

Please don't wait to seek help. Your safety is the priority, and medical professionals can assess what's causing these symptoms and adjust your treatment plan if needed.
