Emily, my husband was given 6 mos to a year to live almost 4 yrs ago and he’s still here. No his quality of life is not good but he is not any worse than he was almost 4 years ago. He is in and out of hospital for septic UTI’s but he was back 4 yrs ago as well. As my son told my husbands doctor 4 yrs ago (you are not god and cannot tell me, to bring my dad home on hospice and let him die comfortably) well here we are and he is still alive. We changed our whole lives because what the doctor said. I sold my house and we moved in with our son because I was afraid to be alone watching him die. We did not bring him home on hospice but we did do palative care. So Emily be strong and do not listen to what the doctor says.
All of what Janine said. Never push yourself to that point. I will be 83 in January. I'm not able to exercise due to no energy, back, and hip problems. Plus AGE! You will get to your point, everyone is different and this disease is cruel. I wish you the best.
Not until you hurt yourself! If you haven't got an oximeter yet, you should get one. When you work out don't let yourself get below whatever your 'safe limit' works out to be. Passing our when you are ready for it may not be harmful, but you have many years of falling down practice to work on before you are ready for the Ambulance to Emergency Room challenge. It could be pretty embarrassing! It made me realize how bad things could be when I was taking my walking test and the nurse in charge asked it I wanted an ambulance. I was trying to tell her I was ok, an she with equal enthusiasm telling me I was NOT ALRIGHT! I just thought I had this as a regular condition for living. They made me get an oxygen machine that afternoon.! I think I was in the 60's back then. I do better now, but it has taken a lot of therapy to get here. Also from what I read, not everyone can get better. I am sure it is no secret that there is no cure for this, only management.
