Members opened up about whether sex is safe for people with pulmonary hypertension, with the consensus being that sexual intimacy, like any exercise, can be beneficial as long as you know your limits and go slow, communicate with your partner, and stop if you feel lightheaded or short of breath. Several members shared practical advice such as letting your partner do more of the work, maintaining steady breathing, discussing concerns with a doctor, and remembering that sexual activity releases feel-good endorphins that support mental and physical health. A recurring theme was the importance of self-advocacy, asking questions without embarrassment in a supportive community, and maintaining hope that meaningful relationships and intimacy are still possible even with oxygen therapy and physical limitations.

Finally someone brought up this topic. I have been so close to wanting to bring it up, but I wasn't sure what the reaction would be with the members. Not to mention I have used a lot of self control when I post in this group. Sometimes I can be a bit blunt and or TMI. (too much information) so I've been told.
So here goes...As a single woman, single when diagnosed and remained single for almost 8 yrs. dealing with this condition. Wholly crapiola capicola. You folks who have your significant others and were with them before this diagnosis than it is just part of the vows sickness and in health. I believe I've picked up on most everyone is married. At least the most active with whom I communicate with and they communicate with me daily or regularly.
O.k. first of all even if I wanted to have a relationship with a guy. At this point in my life that ain't gonna happen. Nobody is going to become involved with someone on O2, 24 hrs. a day with a tube dangling out of my nose 24 hrs. a day. Not to mention the 50 ft. of tangled up and f'd up cord that must continually trail me wherever I go in the house. That was another really hard part to swallow when I got diagnosed with this condition. In that aspect my life is over. It's just another area that is over, and I have to let go of that part of my existence. So I learned thru counseling to not dwell on the things lost but look toward what my existence is now.
Second of all, wholly crapiola capicola, I can't imagine sexual activity. Seriously I can't even walk across the house from one end to the other w/ out becoming SOB. Even if there was a significant other for me I just can't fathom sexual activity. and that is another reinforcer that solidified that part of my life is done and over. I've accepted it.
I'm just glad someone brought it up and maybe we can turn it into a group discussion or not, hopefully, others will share their concept on that part of their lives.
After all we're actually stranger here so it's not like we deal with each other in our daily lives so I decided for myself if I end up embarrassed by stuff I say I ain't gonna trip on it. Even though I don't see members in my daily life I sure am glad you are all here EACH AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!Every one has something different to contribute to the group. Whether that is sharing, passing on knowledge, or just different perspectives because everyone has a different way of thinking. That is what makes something like this so successful.

All of you are absolutely wonderful people! I LOVE YOU EACH AND EVERYONE! I may not respond to each and every one of you, (but then I may, and this website loses it) but I am always reading and praying for each and every one of you! I am so looking forward to meeting all of you in the Lord's Kingdom! No meds, no tubes, no shots, just love and joy!

@A myPHteam Member 🤧 you don't know what your future holds for you. you never know what kinda ish some people can look past for the right person or better yet in your specific circumstance, ya never know what kinda crazy ish some might be into! maybe someone has a thing for tubes?! you don't know!! (I hope you pick up on the humor im aiming for with my last comments! I have a weird way of sometimes inserting mildly inappropriately timed humor in times I feel bad, sad etc about a situation and I tend to turn to the humor as a way to lighten the mood all around for everyone. it's risky BUT it honestly works out more often times than not).
Anyways, yeah so.my boyfriend and I have both always wondered about the sex thing since this all began. im just now investing myself into this support system platform with you guys enough to ask whatever comes to mind. I figure I can ask and if it's inappropriate or offensive that it'll either get taken down or ill be asked to filter myself better. This platform of friendly people on standby and ready to open up about their experiences, has an immediate feeling of comfortability & sense of genuine care. It's a good online atmosphere. I've never felt threatened or like I've had to be reserved in what I say.. even of it seems like something that might come off as a dumb thing to say or ask. My outlook has ALWAYS been the same throughout my entire life... It's better to ask about something you don't know and potentially LOOK (OR SOUND) stupid, than to NOT ask, NOT KNOW and ACTUALLY BE STUPID! HAhaha

Kris: I met Vinny when I was 48 and already very damaged goods. I didn't have tubes attached to me but the Cancer I had when I was 38 and its surgery and treatment left me a very compromised 48 year old (which my then recent ex couldn't handle)...Vinny had his own issues tied to having Chicken Pox as an adult and sepsis due to really bad dentistry. But we found each other, enjoy each other, love each other...and prop each other up as we further deteriorate.

Never say never. Vinny and I met in the infancy of on-line dating and we were both very honest about our issues and limitations before we ever physically met. There are truly some open-minded and open-hearted people out there.
