I told my boyfriend it’s affected my lungs,told him my symptoms and that it worsens over time and eventually affects the right side of the heart.He has seen the way it has affected me and changed my life.I just answer any questions he has….he knows this is serious….

I think there are variations depending on what kind of PH or PAH he has. I have Idiopathic PAH Class 3. To the best I can simply explain, my pulmonary arteries are thickening and stiffening so that the blood flow between the heart and the lungs is restricted, making the right side of the heart work more heavily. The class 3 simply means that I am still at the point where I am comfortable at rest but even simple chores at home like emptying the dishwasher can leave me with SOB (shortness of breath). Idiopathic means there is no certain cause known for my disease. Though we expect it is tied to a chemo drug I took way back in 1988 that caused other damage to my lungs.
