Hi Caroline, I take Sildenafil and I have been on it since 2022 and I have no sude effects from it. The only med I am on that gave me sude effects is Uptravi. I am also on Opsumit no sude effects from that one neither. Have a great day! 🙂

I'm on Tadalafil and Ambrisentan. I take one in the morning, the other in the evening. Both cause congestion for me and occasional nausea.

What are the most common side effects you might notice from ambrisentan and sildenafil?

What are the most common side effects you might notice from ambrisentan and sildenafil?

Both medications can cause overlapping side effects, which makes it tricky to pinpoint which one is responsible. Here are the most commonly reported side effects:

From Ambrisentan (Letairis):
- Swelling in your hands, feet, or legs (peripheral edema)
- Stuffy nose or nosebleeds
- Upset stomach or GERD
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Headaches
- Dizziness or low blood pressure
- Nausea

From Sildenafil (Revatio):
- Headaches
- Facial flushing (redness)
- Nasal congestion
- Indigestion or upset stomach
- Low blood pressure
- Dizziness

As you can see, both medications share several side effects like headaches, nasal congestion, low blood pressure, and digestive issues. This overlap makes it especially difficult to determine which medication is causing what.

If you're experiencing bothersome side effects, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider. They may be able to adjust dosages or timing of medications to help minimize symptoms while still managing your pulmonary hypertension effectively.

@CelinaFreedman between all my medical conditions I am on a lot of medications. I started on Tadalafil first and added it to my PM medications. When Ambrisentan was added a couple of months later I added it to my AM medications. Either way I end up with a palm full twice a day!

@A myPHteam Member thank you for that. Half the time I can’t tell where one side effect ends and the other begins but I did not know that the Tadalafil or the Ambrisentan caused the nausea and I get that once in a while and I’m always confused, but I definitely have gotten used to the congestion and it’s annoying. I’m curious why do you take one at night one in the day I take both of them generally in the day.
