When the left side of the heart can't pump blood out to the body properly, blood backs up into the heart. This increases pressure in the blood vessels leading to the lungs, causing PH.
Several heart conditions can lead to Group 2 PH:
* Coronary artery disease
* Long-term high blood pressure throughout the body
* Heart valve problems (mitral valve or aortic valve)
* Congenital heart disease (heart defects present from birth)
* Heart muscle weakness
