East Lyme, CT

Hematologist is having me have this done because my iron has been low even with taking a daily supplement. He said with PAH and Scelerderma this can happen. Just wondering how you made out afterwards.

Members with PAH and scleroderma shared their experiences with low iron levels, with many describing how the combination of autoimmune conditions can interfere with iron absorption even when taking daily supplements. Several members mentioned practical next steps like scheduling GI scopes to rule out bleeding, tracking ferritin and transferrin levels closely, and choosing between oral iron (which some found caused temporary constipation that resolved with more fruits and vegetables) versus infusions when absorption becomes an issue. A recurring theme was the debilitating fatigue that comes with low iron, the importance of regular monitoring, and mutual encouragement as members navigated these challenges together.

Hi Sharon, I have had scleroderma since 2016 and PAH since 2022 and I never had a problem until 1-2 months ago. I hope yours stays good. God bless! 🙌

Hi Cindy , Marge and Ann. My cardio/pulmonologist picked up on my off the charts low hemoglobin. He wanted me to have an iron infusion, but I said no so my family doc ordered it orally. So far so good. Does anyone know if it can cause constipation?

I have been having this problem for several years. I had two transfusions a while back. I was reading this comes with PAH. We just have to ck often. Cindy I assume this is a no on your Winrevair for now. Next month will be my 9th. Injection. So far it's okay, not low enough to stop. I'm having a heart cath tomorrow. Still trying to get this hip fixed. Hopefully she will say go ahead and plan it.
