When they use an oximeter on me my number usually is good, even during the six minute walk when im out of breath. However, the arterial draw always has shown low numbers, my po2 was only 58 at one point, even with using 4L of O2 ut was only 71.

Improper oxygen (O2) readings can occur for various reasons. Here are some potential causes:

- Poor Sensor Placement: If the pulse oximeter sensor is not placed correctly on the finger, it can give inaccurate readings
- Cold Extremities: Cold fingers can reduce blood flow, leading to incorrect readings.
- Movement: Show Full Answer

Improper oxygen (O2) readings can occur for various reasons. Here are some potential causes:

- Poor Sensor Placement: If the pulse oximeter sensor is not placed correctly on the finger, it can give inaccurate readings.
- Cold Extremities: Cold fingers can reduce blood flow, leading to incorrect readings.
- Movement: Excessive movement during the reading can cause fluctuations and inaccuracies.
- Nail Polish: Dark nail polish or artificial nails can interfere with the sensor's ability to measure oxygen levels accurately.
- Faulty Equipment: Sometimes, the device itself may be malfunctioning or need calibration.

If you experience consistently improper readings, it's important to discuss this with your healthcare provider to ensure your oxygen therapy is managed correctly.
