With this nerve pain sometimes I can get pretty crazy. My doctor percribed me a sedative called Sertraline. I only take it when I really need it.

@ChristyChandlerKeys have you spoken to you doctor about this? There are lots of options available depending on what it is that you and your doctor determine the cause of you inability to sleep is.

I used to use a narcotic when I was out of the hospital after surgery. But now I don't use anything. I have the C-pap, and that sends me just about the moment I get it hooked up and get prone. I feel the longer I can go without sleeps meds the better off and more regular my breathing will be. I know many use melatonin, which is an OTC product. Although it has been recommended to me, I try not to go that route. The 'not drug' I have at bedtime lately has been a cup of hot chocolate. It produces those happy hormones in a limited way.
