Just trying to figure out what affects me day to day whether I'm getting 85% or 95% blood oxygen levels I'm on oxygen 24/7 and some times I'm still getting low 80's % . On 3 L/min oxygen.
I run my oxygen concentrator at 10 lpm flowing through my cPap while I sleep and it keeps my oximeter at 99%. Wonder if I'm over-dosing? I bought my own machine since no doctors have helped me with my COPD and new pulmonologist won't be seen until December 17! So I'm self-medicating with oxygen, hope I don't do any damage to my lungs? I seem to be fine in the morning...
Yes, humidity has a lot to do with your breathing. I live in hot, humid Georgia. Even with my oxygen on, I cannot. breathe in the summer time. Winter is ok I'd you wrap a scarf over you nose and mouth.
IngridHamilton, Yes you can do damage to your lungs with too much o2.
With dr orders, 2 L is usual rate , unless in distress.
An oxygen level of 60 mmHg or lower indicates the need for supplemental oxygen. Too much oxygen can be dangerous as well, and can damage the cells in your lungs. Your oxygen level should not go above 110 mmHg. Some people need oxygen therapy all the time, while others need it only occasionally or in certain situations.
