Do you ever get a feeling like your organs are being squished or rung out when you twist or turn or bend? I'm getting muscle spasm and pain when this happens. It usually takes my breath away and a minute or so to pass, leaving me feeling 'winded'.

That sensation of organs feeling squished or wrung out when twisting, turning, or bending โ€” along with muscle-type pain โ€” is something worth paying attention to, especially with PH in the picture.

PH can cause a range of pain experiences beyond the typical chest pain, and many myPHteam members report discomfort that shows up in unexpected ways and places. With PH, the right side of the heart can become strained, which may lead to liver enlargement. This can cause abdominal discomfort, swelling, or unusual sensations โ€” particularly when you move in ways that put pressure on that area.

Some things to keep in mind:

- New or worsening abdominal pain should always be discussed with your doctor promptly
- Sudden, severe pain warrants emergency care
- Muscle-type pain with movement could have several causes worth exploring with your care team
- Bending over is a known trigger for chest and abdominal discomfort in people with PH

It's a good idea to bring this up with your pulmonologist or cardiologist soon, especially if it's a new symptom or getting worse. They can help figure out what's going on and whether any adjustments to your care plan are needed.

Interesting to know. I have an enlarged liver and now I know why. When I bend or twist I always get short of breath.
