Members with PAH connected over the familiar pattern of paying for good days with days of exhaustion, sharing that even joyful activities like visiting grandkids or running errands can lead to several days of recovery. Several members offered practical coping strategies, including pre-emptive rest days before busy schedules, marking crash days on the calendar, limiting outings to one per day, and learning to pace rather than go all out. A recurring theme was the emotional challenge of accepting a new normal, with many finding comfort in knowing they are not alone in navigating this difficult balance.

Yes,I think we all do this. Our minds says, "You can do it", your body will tell you another story. We learn and adapt to our new norm.

Martha we learn to listen to our bodies as we are all different. Many of us experience this. I was diagnosed Jan. 2020. A short while after losing my husband. I've had to go it alone and it gets difficult at times. Blessings to you.

Pacing your life's chores can be difficult! One day taking on a huge task or many smaller one's. The next morning hardly able to move out of bed! I treasure the high-function days, but also try not to mourn the results when they are so restricted practically the next day. An activity boost is as unexpected as a spring shower, and changeable as the humidity in Chicago. No one can guess what to expect, all you can do is surf, so get on the board and ride the wave you have today. We don't know if it will be a great one, but we all hope to catch a few exceptional ones while we are here. Besides: some days are just built for lying on the warm beach, and that's ok too.

I experience the same thing. It’s exacerbated from being on prednisone which makes me want to do things - but I can’t breathe well and then crash the next day. Then bed for 2 days. I will be on prednisone for 3 more months along with antiinflamatories in an attempt to reduce the fluid around my heart. It’s a large amount, has been drained 2x but comes back within a week. Prednisone affects my sleep so only get 5 hours if I’m lucky. Ugh. At the same time I’m titrating up after starting Uptravi. Bad side effects so titrating slowly. At 1000. Bad headaches, body pain, nausea. So no appetite which is bad for me as I am very thin. My pressure is at 48 so not breathing well. I am really suffering, live alone so have to force myself to do things. I did finally organize my walk in closet after moving in 4 years ago and PAH diagnosis. I am very pleased that prednisone helped me to do it. I appreciate all the support here and when attending support group meetings. I’m petty tough but this is the hardest experience I ever had. It’s just impossible to find joy in life. I keep looking. Thanks for reading this. Barb
