Edema blisters can be really frustrating to deal with, and you're definitely not alone β€” many people managing pulmonary hypertension face this challenge. The swelling that causes them needs to be addressed from the inside out, not just on the skin's surface.

Here are some approaches that may help manage the underlying edema:

- Diuretics (water pills): Prescribed by a doctor, these help your body flush out excess fluid. As one myPHteam member shared, "The diuretic seems to be keeping the swelling at bay."
- Limit fluid intake: Experts suggest 1.5 to 2 liters of fluids per day β€” this includes water, juice, soup, and even ice.
- Reduce sodium: Aim for less than 2,000mg of sodium daily. Salt causes your body to hold onto fluid, worsening swelling.
- Monitor your weight daily: Sudden weight gain (2–3 lbs in a day or 5 lbs in a week) is a red flag to call your doctor immediately. If the blisters are worsening or not healing, please reach out to your pulmonologist or care team soon β€” edema can become serious quickly, and they can adjust your treatment plan to better manage it.
