I travel from South Dakota to Washington quite often. Montana has higher elevation in the Rockies. I just have to pace myself while there and I don’t do much so I don’t struggle. We usually spend one night in Missoula. I’m not on oxygen currently as I was able to get off it several years ago, but I definitely feel the change in elevation. Once I reach WA I do quite well as it’s close to sea level. When I’m home I struggle more as the elevation is around 4500’. I’m currently in AZ for a few months. I’m doing quite well here with my breathing. The cold is very hard on my breathing so AZ suits me currently. I’ve been able to walk more steps and am riding a bicycle for the first time in years.
It’s always good to be cautious and prepared for any difficulty that may occur. Check your O2 often and do pace yourself on exertion. I don’t notice much difference while riding in the car. Flying is another story. I hope this helped!
