I haven’t formally been diagnosed however my PA pressures have been in 30’s to 50’s on echocardiogram. When I ask about referral to a specialist the doctors don’t seem concerned because “have patients with worse pressures “. Doesn’t matter that I’m fatigued constantly and SOB constantly. My heart now has severely enlarged LA. I also have bronchiectasis from a primary immune deficiency (CVID).
The change in mPAP to 20 rather than 25.
@ChristneS Are you referring to the change from mPAP 25 to mPAP 20? Or is there another change?
@A myPHteam Member you know your body best. Get a second or even third opinion if you must. The American Heart Association recently revised the definition of PH. Delaying treatment results in much poorer outcomes. Push for answers.
My SOB is my worse symptom. I get completely winded just emptying the dishwasher. I have to do that in stages. And I have a small, 1 level home and just walking from one corner to the opposite diagonal of my house has me gasping. And forget about changing the litter box! LOL
@A myPHteam Member Echocardiograms only approximate systolic pressure and it’s rare that a doctor will move further and order a right heart catheterization unless your systolic is over 40. Pulmonary Hypertension is determined by the MEAN pressure as measured in a RHC. The MEAN pressure has to be over 20 for a PH diagnosis.
I was symptomatic for several years before I officially began my diagnostic journey which took a full year with a variety of tests.
You might want to schedule a consultation with an actual PH Clinic to move forward.
