I have moderate pah. I moved in with my parents last year when I was diagnosed but since my condition is now stable I am considering to rent an apartment close to my work. Currently I usually feel drained after my 8 hours of work and commuting back home which takes at least 45 minutes and I don't do much in the house. But I would like to hear stories of people my age who live independently.

Living independently with PAH requires careful planning and energy management. Moving closer to work could help reduce fatigue from commuting, giving you more energy for daily activities. Many myPHteam members have found success using mobility aids like walkers to help conserve energy when doing essential tasks like grocery shopping or running errands. To help manage daily life while living independently, consider these strategies:

• Use a stationary bike or treadmill for gentle exercise to maintain strength
• Practice mindful breathing and meditation to manage energy levels
• Consider using assistive devices when needed
• Set up a good sleep routine, as many PAH patients experience sleep issues
• Don't overdo it - pace yourself with daily tasks
• Keep your medical team informed about your living situation changes

Remember that it's okay to take breaks and rest when needed. The key is finding the right balance between independence and self-care.
