Last month, my heart doctor performed a right heart cath to see if the Opsynvi I’m on was working. Thankfully my numbers were really good. But I just wanted to know that, even though I don’t see her for a year, how often will I need to have it done?
It varies based on your symptoms and your physician. Originally, my pulmonologist said every 6 months to a year. My last numbers were very good so she may suggest waiting longer than a year. If medication changes are made the doctor may elect to do a RHC after an acceptable period to monitor its effects. It is important to track your symptoms and report any negative changes. If your functional status changes dramatically you will likely need a RHC sooner than later.
