Is it just as Important for PH patients to have treatment from a specialist as it is for PAH people?
Absolutely! You need a good pulmonologist and cardiologist that have a good understanding of how to manage PH whether you have PAH or PH from another group. Regardless of which group you have, PH affects not only the vessels in your lungs and your pulmonary artery but your heart as well.
Good morning Terri, yes it is very important both PH and PHA patients see and go to a special PH Clinic! I know I have a long drive to my PH Clinic it is a two in a half drive one way. But it is well worth it. You want the best team of Drs working with you!!@ God bless you Terri. πβ€οΈπ
Yes, it's absolutely crucial for anyone with pulmonary hypertension to be treated by a specialist. Since PH is a rare disease, most general doctors don't have extensive experience treating it. Having an experienced specialist can significantly improve your quality of life and potentially your life expectancy.

Yes, absolutely. Especially today when there is do much research going on dealing with Groups 2 through 5. Only a PH specialist will be on top of it all.
I see a cardiologist, a pulmonologist and go to a PH Clinic. All 3 communicate with each other and are instrumental in my care. I am Group 2 PH.
Hey Terri. Im Willie and that's a good question. I've got a lung disease and I've got two doctors for it. One's actually a lung specialist and the other one is a cardiologist that specializes in PH and PAH. I've had several right catheterizations and a few on the left side. A couple of times that they did it they found a few aneurysm but they were able to fix them w/o surgery.
