Members shared their varied experiences with Opsumit for pulmonary arterial hypertension, with some describing dramatic improvements in shortness of breath, reduced oxygen needs, and the ability to return to activities like biking and yard work, while others experienced challenging side effects including severe weakness, worsening shortness of breath, and fluid retention that sometimes required stopping the medication. Several members offered practical strategies for managing side effects, such as taking Opsumit at night instead of morning to reduce sluggishness and sinus issues, setting early alarms to take medications together then sleeping through initial effects, incorporating breathing exercises and spirometry to improve lung capacity, and closely monitoring fluid intake and daily weight to catch retention early. A recurring theme was the importance of patience in giving Opsumit time to work (up to six months for full effect), staying in close communication with doctors about side effects versus benefits, and remembering that if one medication doesn't work there are other options available.

I started Opsumit and took for 3 months! Then my funding was lost and I went without it for 2 months. I could tell the difference! I have been back on it for 8 months. I have about every 3 to 4 weeks have to take Lasik for fluid one time (and sometimes for two days) and this time of year it really messes with my sinuses, but all in all it is ok to me! God Bless you Elaine495! Pray for Jesus to help you!

Hi Elaine495. I hope you are able to give Opsumit a fair chance. I just had my follow up cardiac echo after there months on Opsumit and my pressures dropped considerably. 🙏🏻
