Assuming you meant PH, let me try to give you 2 possible answers.

1) PAH is a subset of PH, classified as group 1 out of the 5 sub groups in PH. All PAH is PH...but not all PH is PAH. PAH is when the pulmonary artery that transports OXYGENATED blood from the lung to the heart is constricted. This is classified as PRE-CAPILLARY. Speaking for Group 2 which is what I now have been re-classified as, that involves the pulmonary artery that transports PRE-OXYGENATED blood from the heart to the lung. That is classified as POST-CAPILLARY. I am not positive, but I think the other groups of PH are also post-capillary. Someone hopefully will come correct me if I am wrong.

2) Perhaps you are one of the minority of PH patients who straddle across more than one grouping like I do. I was originally thought to be primarily Group 1 and secondarily Group 2...that diagnosis has now been reversed and I am getting a new RHC done on 08/01 to see if I am Group 1 at all! This is called Overlap Syndrome. This is significant as treatment protocols can conflict between the 5 groups.
