Members shared their experiences with mouth breathing, particularly at night, with many noting that it becomes more challenging when using oxygen therapy and can lead to a dry mouth upon waking. Several members discussed practical adjustments they've made, including sleeping in elevated positions with adjustable beds, using full-face CPAP masks for those with deviated septums, pursed-lip breathing techniques during activities, and alternating between nose and mouth breathing when they catch themselves. A recurring theme was the importance of considering a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea, especially for those experiencing snoring, waking up winded, or needing nighttime oxygen, with members encouraging each other to discuss these symptoms with their pulmonologists.

I alternate, once I realize I've been mouth breathing. Sometimes, I feel like I have to take a deep breath through my mouth before I can breathe through my nose. I get it. Try Lamaze breathing ... in through the nose, out through the mouth.

Mouth breathing is not so good when you are on oxygen, however I think we all forget som times.

I catch myself pursed lip breathing when I'm doing activities a lot of the time. I know I mouth breath at night. Ambrisentan stops my nose up horribly. I wake up each morning with a very dry mouth. My husband said I've been snoring more. I'm wondering if I should have another sleep study done. I just recently had to start using oxygen at night.

Been a mouth breather all my life. Have a deviated septum. Even with CPAP mouth is open, that is why I need full face mask.
