A person on this site mentioned their doctor told them when you have side effects with these medications it means they are working. Has anyone else been told this? My problem is the Uptravi. I've been up and down in dosage on this. This week I will go back up to 1200 micrograms. Been on 1000 for 4 months. I will also start my 3rd meds soon. As before it's the extremity pain in legs mainly.

Members shared mixed experiences regarding whether side effects from Uptravi mean the medication is working, with some doctors confirming that jaw pain, leg pain, and headaches indicate the drug is dilating blood vessels throughout the body, while others cautioned that severe reactions may signal intolerance rather than effectiveness. Several members offered practical strategies for managing extremity pain, including taking lower doses during the day and higher doses at night, trying magnesium glycinate supplements, staying at the lowest tolerable dose (since even lower amounts can be beneficial), and switching medications entirely if side effects become unbearable. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body and working closely with your doctor to find a balance between therapeutic benefit and quality of life, with many members emphasizing that no one should have to live in constant pain just to stay on a particular medication.

Side effects are not signs a drug is working. It's a sign of an allergic reaction. I have nothing to say about Uptravi as it almost killed me.

Thanks to all for taking time to advise me. I will continue on the best I can. I'm almost 81 and keep going. Prayers please this gets better. It's amazing the difference 200 mic can have this big of effect. It does on me for sure.

Ann, the symptoms you are describing are considered normal, expected side effects of Uptravi. If you find you can't manage them or tolerate them, contact your doctor. Another suggestion, check with your doctor first but I've found Magnesium Glycinate 400 mg helpful.

Here is an old-fashioned remedy for cramps, esp leg cramps: Quinine! If any store/pharmacy has it in pills, they are very tiny and you take one or two under your tongue. It sure does the trick for me and the hubby! If you can't find the pills, then 'tonic water' from any package 'likker' store will work as well. People think it is very bitter in this form, but I have yet to tell much of a difference.
As for meds with side effects, this will not have any, and has been used safely for a couple of centuries for muscle cramps and body aches. I do not like the side effects I have with a few of my other meds, and now I am in the process of getting them switched with safer products, or just eliminating them when they prove unnecessary for my health. I have been reducing my med loads for years, but relapses caused things to be re-prescribed. Now that I am back in the gum, I hope this can become a permanent reduction. Some things are good and worth the side effect if it's job is being done for your health. I have one like this but still hope I can end up getting it out of my life. Last weigh in I was 233! In case you don't know, a great improvement. Slow and steady and I strive to get there before I am 70.
