Eric, when the heart muscle stiffens, it takes more effort for the heart muscle to pump efficiently. If not well managed, this could eventually progress to congestive heart failure. Fortunately, your doctor is aware that you have this issue. With medications, good self-care, regular exercise, and monitoring this condition can be manageable. If you have not done so already, schedule an appointment with your cardiologist to ask questions and find out what the treatment options are.

Eric, I would not settle for a diagnosis of "stiffening of the heart" .I have heart problems along with my IPF and PH. It has a name and there are drugs prescribed to handle it. Just my opinion but it sounds like you need a good cardiologist.

Stiff heart is a condition that can lead to heart complications, including PH. Your MD should be able to guide you through this as far as meds and other treatment. I'm assuming you've had an echo and maybe right heart cath to rule out PH at this time. This said, never ignore your symptoms....be your own advocate.

If your heart can't pump blood through out your body because it's too tight is rather serious. PAH doesn't just go away, probably a wrong diagnosis.
