Who Is On A C-pap Machine. I Was But Stopped As I Just Did Not Ever Get Adjusted To Using It!
Does it really help? I sometimes felt I was not getting enough air.
Hi Sonny here is what I found.
My pre-CPAP sleep test indicated I was having 49 events per night. My CPAP machine (that includes a cellular data link to the Manufacturer and is available to me and my Sleep Doctor) says that the number of events have declined to 1 to 5 events per night. So yes it appears to help. I also made some life style changes that likely helped as well.
I often wake up out of breath if I take a nap without it so yes again it helps me. I went to the CPAP provider and was fitted for a full face mask which worked better for me.
Yes it is like a medieval torture device. I asked my Doctor if any of the now available operations would help and he said for me the CPAP is the Gold Standard.
I would ask you sleep Doctor if any of the operations would help you as I understand how uncomfortable the CPAP is to use.
Good luck...tom
I am about 8 months on cpac. Face always swollen. Then I was able to get a larger mask and that was day and night. Still uncomfortable but getting better. I do realize I sleep better wirh it and do better.
I was placed on the CPAC machine a few months ago. I was not happy about the ideal of it in the beginning but am very grateful for it now. Without going into a great deal of detail…..it has been very benefical & a blessing. Don’t give up on it…..work with your doctor…..they can adjust the airflow.. I used to get up in the morning short of breath…..much much better 🙂. Good Luck!!! 🤞🏻
I used C-Pap for almost 10 years for severe OSA. I became very ill in 2021 and was moved to a Trilogy EVO (external ventilator). I wouldn't want to have to live without it. I have been on oxygen for 12 years and I am a very shallow breather. I bleed oxygen through the EVO. It senses when my lungs are congested and builds a vibration into my lungs to help me expel the yuck. I do think that it has helped me feel better and definitely sleep better. I would seriously consider using your C-Pap. Your sleep apnea will only get worse if you don't. You might try wearing your C-Pap during the day to help you get more comfortable with it. If your machine doesn't have a "ramp" feature ask for one. This feature gradually increases the pressure over a period of time. This allows you to go to sleep before it reaches peak flow. You can also try different masks. All these things will help but really it just boils down to this. You have to use it consistently and get comfortable with it. I hope this helps.
I've had my chapter for about 7 years now. It's helped me alot. I can't sleep at night with out it. I have to use the nasal pillows tho.
