Members shared excitement and curiosity about Sotatercept, a promising new medication in stage 3 clinical trials that reportedly lowers pulmonary artery pressure dramatically with few side effects. Several members exchanged links to Merck press releases and clinical trial updates, with one member reporting that their doctor expects FDA approval by late 2024 or early 2025 and described it as the first drug to treat pulmonary hypertension through an entirely different mechanism than existing therapies. A recurring theme was hopeful anticipation mixed with prayerful support for one another, particularly for members whose current medications have been ineffective or intolerable due to other health conditions.

Michael, this is what this site is all about. Thank you for sharing and Bless You! I have been researching. Apparently, this treats PAH. The third stage testing was a success. The drug is developed by Merck. They are claiming in a press release they are in the regulatory approval stage. Possible available in the next year or two???? Please everyone share what you find.

All, I was at the lung clinic last week and asked my doctor about this new medication. It is not available at this time. It is currently in FDA review. He said it would be reasonable to expect a release date of late 2024 or first quarter 2024, unless something holds it up. He had some patients in the test groups and was really impressed by the results he has seen. He says it is the first drug to treat PH completely differently than the majority of the current drugs available. I have not be able to tolerate the current drugs due to my heart issues, so I am hopeful this new drug may be answer.
