Members shared deeply personal perspectives on the difficult decision of whether to pursue a double lung transplant, with several explaining that other health complications, advanced age, or organ damage made them ineligible or unwilling to proceed despite being on the list. A recurring theme was the frustration of not receiving honest answers from doctors and the challenge of weighing the risks, lengthy recovery, and uncertain outcomes against the potential benefits. Two members described contrasting experiences from their support group: one person regretted the transplant a year later due to ongoing pain and difficult recovery, while another flourished and celebrated the newfound freedom of breathing without oxygen tubing.

Two people in my schleroderma support group have had double lung transplants.

One person was depressed with the pain and medical care. A year later, he regrets it. The only positive that I heard is being able to take a deep breath.

Another person has blossomed. She never said a peep about recovery and only talked of the freedom without tubing. She moved to Arizona shortly after so now I mostly see her on facebook.

I qualify for heart and lung transplant but due to my advanced liver failure from the PAH, I can't have any kind of surgery. Not even minor procedure due to risk of bleeding to death. My old cardiologist waited too long to send me to specialist.
