I need a right hip replacement. My lung Dr tells me i can not have surgery becausei will die on table because intubation, anesthesia will blow my lungs out. Has anyone else been told this???
Sandihill29, I am so sorry to hear that. I had multiple surgeries before I got PH. Now my Dr said if I need surgery which includes being put to sleep, I WILL DIE. They have braces now for the ship that goes as round your hip and down your leg. Praying your Ortho Dr can come up with another option.
When I had my cataract operations.....didn't get much anesthesia at all...wanted me awake so I could follow their directions.....Even when I had my colonoscophy...was awake and watched the whole procedure on the camera.....don't think my doctor liked this at all...guess wasn't given enough....everything went fine....
Maybe you might have to wait for the surgery.....get a cortisone shot instead....for the pain....
Yes Sandi, I've been told the same thing. I know that they go by a person's weight on how much anesthia they give you. If you are anything like me, what they need to do is give me about a third of what they would give a person my size and age and that is sufficient for me and I'm out like a light. I feel they go over board with the anesthia. A lot of times, the anesthesiologist will start it, then walk away from the patient, wrong thing to do. That's what causes overdoses.
