Does Anyone Have Sciatica Problems. I Sit So Much Of The Day, That My Butt Really Hurts And I Have A Difficult Time Standing/walking. X

I am unsteady when I walk and the only relief I get is when I lean over on my elbows. Recently my bursa sack in my right elbow ruptured and it got extremely infected. Had to have surgery twice to clean out all of the infection. Having a compromised immune system doesn't help in this type of situation. Does anyone know what I can do to help relieve this butt pain.

Members responded to a question about relief for sciatica-related butt pain from prolonged sitting, with several members sharing practical solutions including specialized seat cushions from medical equipment suppliers, TENS units for pain management, chiropractic acupuncture (which one member credited with eliminating their sciatica after just two sessions), lidocaine ointment, and massage therapy. Many community members described the emotional toll of losing mobility and independence, expressing feelings of exhaustion, frustration at being unable to complete simple tasks like sweeping, and guilt over needing to rest despite not feeling they've earned it. A recurring theme was the critical importance of movement to prevent muscle loss, maintain balance, avoid pressure sores, and preserve independence, with members encouraging each other to start with simple exercises, forgive themselves on difficult days, and celebrate small victories like accomplishing two tasks in a day.

Hi, sitting is one of the worst things we ALL are doing to ourselves!! It makes our muscles weak and throws our balance off so we easily Fall. Been there, Done that. Don't want to do that again!! You must make yourself do simple exercise everyday! If you don't you are going to loose your muscles in your legs n arms! Start slow n Simple n increase at your comfort level. It is so easy to get in a rut n not do any exercise. Your skin on your Butt starts breaking down first. Then you notice your body has more aches n pains from not being able to stretch out the muscles. If you wait to long to start moving around you will have open sores on the areas you have been sitting on because there has been no blood flow to the areas for to Long. Move around frequently to keep your body limber n not stiff! I am in Rehab now trying to build up my endurance AGAIN! It happens to all of us!

When I feel tired (quite often) I lat down on cushions on the floor on my back. Then eventually I try to do leg lifts and knee bends I have to do something to strengthen the few muscles I still have left working before they turn into flab
