I live in Canada and now that winter has arrived I have noticed it really hard to take a deep breath or walk very far outside in the cold air. I am not on oxygen is there anything that helps when you are outside?

Members shared practical strategies for managing pulmonary hypertension breathing difficulties in cold Canadian winters, with the overwhelming consensus being to cover the nose and mouth with a scarf or mask to warm the air before breathing it in. Several members described taking a few deep breaths before going outside to clear any coughing, minimizing time outdoors, using handicap parking or paratransit to shorten walks, and staying out of the wind whenever possible. A recurring theme was the emotional understanding of how isolating winter can be when cold air makes breathing harder, with members offering solidarity and encouragement to those adjusting to new limitations.

I wear a turtle fur that I used to use for skiing. It lightly covers my nose & mouth & warms the air you breathe

Where a light scarf over your mouth and nose, take a couple of breaths first to get any cough out first, try not to be out for long periods of time, and take transit or drive close to your destination.
