Great update from appointment with Cardiologist

Hello all, I wanted to give an update. A week or so ago, I bemoaned the “fact” that my RHC from 4 weeks ago showed that I have a dilated pulmonary artery. Well, yesterday, I went for a follow-up appointment with the cardiologist who performed the RHC. He assured me I do NOT have a damaged artery. It's completely understandable that you misunderstood some details right after your RHC. Many myPHteam members report that the mild sedatives used during the procedure can affect memory and comprehension immediately afterward. It's actually quite common to not remember conversations clearly while recovering from the sedation.

The news about your treatment response is fantastic! Your lowered pressures and reduced right heart chamber size show that Opsumit and Adempas are working well for you. This kind of positive response is exactly what doctors hope to see.

Sotatercept (Winrevair) is a newer, first-in-class treatment option for pulmonary arterial hypertension that some patients add to their existing medications. Your doctor's assessment that you're an excellent candidate is encouraging.

Regarding the hole in your heart, your cardiologist's decision sounds thoughtful. Sometimes intervention can create more complications than it solves, and it's good that you have clarity on why surgery isn't the right path.
