How often should I have an echo done?

I'm also now every 6 months but my echo's are what they call PH Protocol echo's done in a hospital setting using low contrast media. My hospital uses a protocol developed by The Mayo.

My pulmonologist told me I should have an echo done every 6 months at this point in my treatment plan. Frequency is really dependent on your disease stage and your symptoms.

• Overall heart function While echocardiograms provide valuable information, they only give estimated readings of pulmonary pressures. Your doctor will determine how frequently you need echos based on your individual condition and symptoms. As one myPHteam member shared, right heart catheterization may be recommended at times since it provides more accurate measurements.
