AnnRSmith Ph is caused by left heart disease. There is really nothing you can take for it accept for diuretics and cholesterol meds. It is generally due to aging something we can't change. Ann, there are so many things that can impact life expectancy for those with any kind of PH. The key for any kind of PH is early diagnosis and intervention. The differences between PAH and all other forms of PH is that PAH is treated much differently because it originates in the lungs, eventually impacting the pulmonary artery and the right side of the heart. All other forms of PH are caused by left heart issues. In these types of PH, the underlying conditions are treated.
And now with Winrevair available only to PAH patients, I’m sure the survival period has been increased. I can’t wait for the FDA to approve it for other groups.
