PHOENIX PEOPLE: Are You Coming This Friday To Our Next Open Meeting?

A myPHteam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ
Scottsdale, AZ

My PH clinic hosts monthly open support meetings. You do NOT have to be a patient at this clinic to attend. The next meeting is Friday, August 16th from 11AM till 1PM and lunch will be served. If you can come, or if you have questions, please call (Phone number can only be seen by myPHteam users) so they know how many mouths they are feeding. The location is The Cowden Center at John C Lincoln Hospital at 9202 N 2nd St, Room 1AB in Phoenix.

Members shared their experiences with local pulmonary hypertension support groups, with one member describing a monthly clinic-hosted meeting in Phoenix that averages about 25 attendees and features scheduled topics, open conversations, and lunch. Several members expressed interest in starting their own local groups, with one sharing how they successfully ran an autoimmune disease support group for two years in a rural community by posting flyers, placing newspaper ads, and inviting speakers like rheumatologists and chiropractors. A recurring theme was the value of in-person connection for sharing experiences and practical tips, balanced with the challenges of rural areas having limited access and the reality that pulmonary hypertension's rarity makes gathering local attendees difficult.

It's just my PH Clinic which hosts open support meetings once a month. There's a scheduled topic each time but also open conversations plus of course lunch! We probably average about 25 people or so each time. There are 4 PH Clinics in the county where I live in Arizona and I think 3 of them offer such support meetings.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but there are already 3 local support groups that I know of here so starting another one would be redundant and honestly I am too lazy to take on such an effort these days.

I commend you for having started and run your local forum.

That's so wonderful you can attend an in person support group! I sure wish we had one around here. My ph specialist suggested I be the one to start it, but I've never done anything like that before and don't know if I'd be organized enough! But it sure is important to connect with people with similarities and share feelings and tips for living! ๐Ÿ’›
