I renewed my gym membership yesterday and worked out today. I’m very hesitant to do any “cardio” exercises because of my PAH, but I did a few strength exercises, like chest, abs, and shoulders. It went well. What exercises are you able to do with PAH/PH besides walking?
Steven, I exercise everyday. I do cardio, Zumba, line dancing and strength exercises. I don’t exercise with the same intensity as I did a year ago. Most days I can do about 8000 steps. My pulmonologist said to exercise as much as I can. Most days it’s about 2 hours though out the day. We haven’t been to the gym in a while.. I prefer working out at home. Ask your dr about pulmonary rehab. I do have to watch that my pulse doesn’t get to high.. When it does, I will stop what I am doing and wait for my pulse to go lower. Good for you for trying new exercises.
I do because it does feels like a bit of a workout, isn't that win/win ? 2 birds 1 stone😄
Besides walking I also do water fitness classes. Most of my exercise is what I like to call "functional exercise"; housework, yard work, gardening, etc.
Wow. And here I am proud that I’ve built myself up to be able to walk 4 blocks instead of just 1 1/2. I am in rehab and I daily do 4 3 minute stints on a treadmill at 1.2 mile/hr with 2 minute rests in between in which I usually have to do purse lip breathing to get my blood ox back up. My other exercises are chest stretching, balance and breathing exercises
When I was in my 20s I taught dancing and danced about 4 hours straight almost every night of the week. Things change.
Wow Linda...I am super impressed! I just came home from a pulmonary rehab session and I am completely whipped!
