When my time comes I am totally unsure if my insurance will be able to cover such things! If I think about it constantly, I would bet it would drive me crazy! Even though I got on Humana plan early (2002) and was officially disabled (for life) that year, I know it will only get more complicated. It has taken me some time to so some recovery from being hit by a truck in 1999, and now I can walk without assistance for small distances, and just started loosing weight in earnest these past 3 years, and going to the gym for low impact work outs. I can only do what I can do for myself at this stage. Avoiding the NEED to resort to drugs/meds is my focus, but since you are already on the lists for needing these meds you may not be able to do the kind of improving you may wish, but that does not mean you shouldn't try. Lose what weight you can, get some physical movement into your life. Get away from unwise food choices. For me that also includes calling everything that is not healthy for me a 'tasty poison'. Yes: SAD. But it is also pretty true. I am also diabetic, besides the excess weight, and the permanently busted left leg, I know it seems like an impossible journey. Be sure you have explored all the government and charitable avenues you have for options. Some of these options may even be aid from the manufacturers of these meds themselves. Also check with your township trustees who may have funding now that it is the 'top' of the year, some may have aid that is wide open to apply. ALWAYS check to see what kind of insurance options you have for yourself. While I am pretty satisfied by my current arrangement, it is entirely based on the injuries and recovery from the wreck I was in. The PAH thing is newer territory for me. So my current strategy is to bring as much of a healthy body to the fight as I can manage for myself at this time. While I know I WILL get worse, I will leave the annoyance issues as much behind me as I can. Focus on how YOU want to tackle it. It is hard to manage if you have too much excess illness in your life, when you could do something about it now. We are all cheering each other. Encouragement means much!

For meds you cannot afford,try The Assistance Fund and a few other organizations that offer assistance. Your Dr. should know the names of others.I am on Tyvaso DPI,Tadalafil and Opsumit and I get them at no charge.I also am on Medicare and my only income is Social Security.I have United Health Dual plan.You may also want to contact the maker of the drug as they usually offer patient assistance programs.

Yes need to lose weight, battled that my whole life. My issue is all autoimmune that has caused cirrhosis of liver, I don't even drink, never smoked in my life. High BP, other body issues. I am fighting, doctors are not very encouraging but we can encourage each other. Don't want to leave my husband, sins or grandchildren

Hi, I must admit that when I first found out about my PAH I was so afraid because I knew I couldn't afford my meds. I struggled alot trying to get help. My Dr. helped me alot as well as his nurses. After lots of months with no success I finally received a call from Jennsen Care Path. That is who still helps me with my meds Uptravi and Opsumit.
