Just got diagnosed and was doing some research…please tell me this is not the death sentence I keep reading it to be😩no cure…life expectancy of only few years…I’m terrified! I’m only in my early 40’s!
I was extremely fearful, too! I am in my 70s and was diagnosed in 2013. With medication, sleep studies, and some use oxygen there is hope for good quality of life! My heart cath in April of this year showed good improvement and now I am on half the dose of Adempas that I was on. Both my parents snored, so my risk for sleep apnea was high, which also goes along with PH! I have been on Bi-PAP of 16/10 since July 2016 . I have so much energy and less fatigue with great rest! I have already outlived the life expectancy with rigorous treatment by specialists, so follow your doctor's orders and recommendations. Stay in touch with your MD if you have questions or problems, you are your own best advocate!
I know all this stuff might make some people scared or confused but you gotta remember that life is full of ups and downs and we gotta forge ahead and keep going forward.
I think most of us feel like this when we were first diagnosed. While there is no cure, proper medication can slow the progression. The key for me is having a good doctor. Your doctor may go through several medications before finding the proper one for you. This can be frustrating but try and be patient during the process. Keep a positive outlook and enjoy every moment.
